Let’s be honest here. The word ‘female’ is used when someone, maybe subconsciously, wants to distance themselves from the person in question. It makes any sentence more about the difference between genders. Just look at the general context of the word-  I have never heard someone say, “That is my female!” or “I love that female.” Or even “She is a really smart female.” Well, I may have heard that last one.
